Lindsay has always enjoyed learning new information and helping improve patients’ lives. It’s what drew her to pharmacy. She leveraged these interests with the opportunity in 2016 to start a retail pharmacy within the walls of Advantage Behavioral Health Systems, the primary outpatient clinic serving individuals and families experiencing behavioral health challenges, intellectual/developmental disabilities and addictive diseases in Athens, Georgia. “We’ve worked to increase access to medications and quality services for underserved patients in our community, and we’ve expanded our reach of pharmacy practice and expertise into programs throughout the agency.” The endeavor was intimidating at first. “Setting up in a brand-new space in a practice setting I was not familiar with, mental health, was a challenge. But once we got everything going, the discomfort dissipated and turned into passion for all the opportunities we could pursue to help those around us.”
