2021 Iowa – Casey Villhauer
Casey graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2007. In addition to obtaining immunization certification from the American Pharmacists Association, she also holds credentials as a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. Currently, Villhauer serves as the founder and CEO of Vaxi Taxi in Des Moines. In 2020, Vaxi Taxi was launched as a novel immunization service to engage community pharmacies and mobilize independent pharmacists. The company vision to develop a network of independently operating pharmacists dedicated to patient-centered care set the foundation for quickly onboarding a team of eight highly-skilled immunizers. In March of 2021, Vaxi Taxi partnered with the Polk County Health Department to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to high-risk individuals and individuals unable to access a vaccination site due to various challenges. As of July 2021, the Vaxi Taxi team had administered more than 1,500 vaccines to central Iowans. In her free time, Villhauer enjoys spending time with her husband, Dustin, and their children, Charlie (11), Holland (9) and Lincoln (7), as well as their new puppy, Bertie Mae. She also enjoys thrift shopping, working alongside her dad at the family auction house, coaching youth athletics, and volunteering at a local donation center.
