Growing up in a small neighborhood in Pennsylvania, Shawn Nairn learned early in life that independent pharmacies and pharmacists can play an extraordinary role in providing community health care and supporting patient health. In addition to offering retail pharmacy services, Shawn’s pharmacy provides medication adherence solutions, home delivery and clinical services to homebound patients – thus earning the pharmacy its name, ACORx, which stands for “Adherence and Compliance Optimized.” Of his “at home” clients, Shawn reports, “These people can’t get out, lack general caregiver support and need extra attention that you can’t get from regular retail pharmacies.” Shawn and his team, in coordination with several creative tech companies, seek to address the critical needs of these patients by providing them with high levels of attention, service and follow-up. Patients, healthcare providers and payors have come to recognize the value of ACORx’s outreach and service to the homebound population as well as the broader local community.
