Bora Pharmaceuticals Completes the Acquisition of Upsher-Smith

2023 North Dakota – Elizabeth Skoy

Elizabeth Skoy, Pharm D
Professor, North Dakota State University
Director of the Center for Collaboration and Advancement in Pharmacy (CAP)

Elizabeth Skoy’s work as a pharmacist and researcher is driven by her determination “to relieve suffering and improve overall health for patients,” especially at the community level. While working in a clinical role at a long-term care facility, Skoy saw firsthand “how pharmacists’ decisions on medication management made a drastic difference in [patient] health and wellbeing.”  Today, she is taking that understanding to a new level through her work as Director of the Center for Collaboration and Advancement in Pharmacy (CAP). There, she and her team prioritize research and training on collaborative, pharmacy-based programs that can be scaled and translated across a variety of settings.  At CAP, Skoy has been involved in multiple projects that positively impact population health, including efforts to reduce opioid misuse and overdose death rates, improve immunization rates, and enhance the management of chronic diseases. Thanks to her work at CAP and as a clinical pharmacist, Skoy knows firsthand that “being innovative [in pharmacy] can have far reaching consequences,” especially because, for many patients, “the pharmacist is the most accessible healthcare provider.”
