Pharmacy exists at the intersection of science and healthcare, and that is exactly where William Peppard excels in his role as Pain Stewardship Coordinator at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. At Froedtert, Peppard is responsible for “increasing safety, clinical outcomes, and compliance with regulatory standards associated with the management of pain.” He and his informatics team use an innovative, data-driven approach to pain management that has convinced colleagues across his organization to rethink how they treat pain at both the patient and population level. According to Peppard, he and his team were able to establish consensus – and improve organization safety – by clearly communicating to leaders and colleagues that “our approach was rooted in evidence and that our team consisted of content experts.”
