Minnesota Governor Meets with Executives from Upsher-Smith’s Parent Company During Visit to Japan
Maple Grove, MN – September 20, 2019 – UpsherSmith Laboratories, LLC (Upsher-Smith) today announced that executives from its parent company, Sawai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Sawai) including Sawai’s President, Mitsuo Sawai and General Manager of External Affairs, Yoshiomi Kunihiro, joined Minnesota Governor Tim Walz at the 51st Midwest U.S. Japan Association Conference.
The conference, which took place from September 7-10, 2019 in Tokyo, brought together leaders from Japan and the Midwest, including the governors from Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin to highlight their strong economic partnerships. Governor Walz traveled to Japan with representatives from the Minnesota Trade Office (MTO) at the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Minnesota is home to nearly 35 Japan-based companies.
“Minnesota is committed to unleashing economic opportunities across the globe,” said Governor Walz. “During this trip, I was able to state the case directly to international decisionmakers that Minnesota is a great place to do business and a company such as Upsher-Smith, that has achieved rapid growth and continues to expand as part of Japan-based Sawai, is a prime example.”
