Upsher-Smith Receives Minnesota Governor’s Workplace Safety Award
Maple Grove, MN – May 30, 2024 – Upsher-Smith Laboratories, LLC (Upsher-Smith) today announced that it has been honored with a Governor’s Workplace Safety Award which recognizes excellence in occupational injury prevention. The award was presented during the 2024 Minnesota Safety & Health Conference held at the Mystic Lake Center on May 1, 2024.
Each year, the Minnesota Safety Council and its partners recognize and celebrate employees throughout the State of Minnesota for safety and health excellence in protecting its workforce from injuries, illnesses, and incidents through the Minnesota Governor’s Workplace Safety Achievement Awards Program. Upsher-Smith received the program’s highest honor – the Diamond Achievement Award – by achieving an incidence rate better than the 97th percentile of both the state and national average, demonstrating its outstanding performance in workplace safety.
As members of the Minnesota Safety Council, Upsher-Smith was among the 83 winners of the Diamond Achievement Award. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national and state statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program.

This year marked the first time Upsher-Smith applied for the award and reflects data from its new, 270,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art, manufacturing facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Plant C’s modern design allows for more spacious workspaces, better workflow, and fewer slip, trip, and fall hazards. There is also less manual handling of containers, reducing musculoskeletal disorders from overexertion.
